According to today's Ottawa Citizen, the car companies are rolling out new, sportier hatchbacks. Perhaps the trend towards SUVs is finally going to turn in the other direction.

Pontiac is even releasing a hatchback with All Wheel Drive!!! Somebody at GM must have been reading my postings!

When I was a kid in Edmonton, our family tooled around in a 1976 Austin Mini. Now that BMW has bought Austin Healy they are putting out a revamped Mini. It'll be hitting the Canadian market in January 2002.

Anecdote: I was driving on Vancouver Island to Victoria, and in this one stretch, I was going 110 km/h in my Honda Civic; well, in the right lane, this little dinky Renault Le Car was keeping up with me!

Like, hot damn.

My dream car is pretty evil, since it would be a polluter, but here it is.

I want to get a 1982 Chevrolet Caprice 2-door. I'd tint the windows, install black-lights under it, get aluminum rims, etc. You know, really pimp it up. I'd go to a junk yard and find a trashed Impala. I'd take all the trim from the Impala and put it on the Caprice. Bingo! A 1982 Impala! It would be so ugly, it'd be cool.

Unfortunately, 82 Caprices are hard to find in decent condition. 4-doors are fairly common, but not the 2-doors.

Barring that, I'd like a Subaru Outback.
