Such media campaigns that focus on the workers’ experiences and working conditions can appeal to consumers during the holiday period. It is clear unions and community groups are able to reach a wider audience through the greater use of the internet. I hope more workers will speak up about the issues within the service industry. However, it is very difficult to voice your concerns within this sector when you are dependent on your job and vulnerable to management discipline (especially during the holidays). It is clear service workers will require greater support from unions and community groups. I hope these groups will listen to the concerns of these workers.
