I didn't have the opportunity to add these two cents worth into the first discussion. As well, I was wondering if I should open the doors again but I was thinking (for a long while now) about an article, Manliness too closely linked to violence, police chief says I read in The London (Ontario) Free Press.
quote:
Be a man. Three simple words. One short phrase. And a dizzying array of interpretations.
London police Chief Murray Faulkner uttered the words Wednesday while speaking at a news conference to launch the Mayor's Task Force to End Woman Abuse.
"We need to have some frank conversations about what it is to be a man," Faulkner told the crowd.
I may be getting myself into deep (well over my head) water but I am of the belief that it is the responsibility of all men to be responsible or at least take responsibility for the actions of some men. The statistics are valid in my mind. Unfortunately, many men and some women allow this violence to continue through the lack of action when they know of incidents of these actions.
The Million Man March back in the mid-1990’s and by reading the website, Atonement: The Road to Peace. By Minister Louis Farrakhan is where I first considered the fact that men really do need to do something about this abomination in our society. As well, music and other entertainment must stop referring to and glorifying violence in general but mostly violence against women as “the cool thing.”
