The Iraq war amounted to a "crime of aggression", the former deputy legal adviser to the Foreign Office has said.

How very interesting.

The author of the memo which concluded the invasion of Iraq amounted to the "crime of aggression" was the pre-eminent international law expert at the Foreign Office, with 30 years experience there.

She is joined by about 90% of international lawyers. Canada's present Attorney General, Irwin Cotler, was a very well respected professor of international law before his appointment. He signed a petition, signed by a hundred or so international law professors, stating that the Iraq war was illegal. The petition appeared in the Globe and Mail at the outset of the war.

Tomorrow we will discover whether Jeremy Hinzman will be given refugee status. He had offered to prove the war was illegal, but the Refugee Board decided that was "irrelevant."
