EDP 24 (UK):

It is one man's vision to bring a symbol of peace to a nation and spread a message to the rest of the world.

But so far artist Ned Pamphilon's bid to paint a rainbow along the entire length of Istanbul's 1.5km Bosphorus Bridge has been blocked by the Turkish government - because of its “gay imagery”.
He has gained support from the Turkish media and even the country's president but continues to be blocked by the government.
“The rainbow originates from Turkey - when the waters subsided and Noah's arc rested on the mountain it was here that the rainbow could be seen.

“The Turkish authorities have described this as 'gay San Francisco' imagery but it is a symbol of peace.

Someone should tell the turks that the gay rainbow has only six colours, not seven.

However, I think one can be completely gay positive and still find the idea really kitschy.
