You know things are bad when....

The concept of jobdumping.de is simple. An employer posts a job that needs doing, along with the maximum wage he or she is willing to pay. Interested job seekers then compete with each other for the job by underbidding, meaning the employer ends up with the person willing to do the job for the least amount of money.

Yeah, this is bad idea. While the article points out this:

quote:
The system can also work the other way, with workers entering their skills in the auction at the minimum price they're willing to work for, and interested employers then push the wage up as they outbid each other.

I doubt it happens that much in a period of labour surplus. The article conspicuously doesn't mention the level of traffic on that part of the site compared with the bid down part.

quote:
First there's an absolute minimum wage of €3 ($4) per hour.

Second, wouldn't the absolute minimum wage have to be same as the legal minimum wage? I'd be really surprised if Germany's minimum wage was that low.

Is it such a bad idea? Life is a two way street after all.

I actually do run my own business and do try to pay the people working with me (not for me) as much as possible. If you want quality then you have to pay for it. If you are a worker providing real quality then chances are your pay reflects it.

the problem with this idea is that you will end up getting a low quality employee, most people are willing to pay a bit extra to get a capable person

My brother in Law is a deckhand for a tugboat company (non union) who has taken post secondary courses relevant to his occupation. This is above and beyond what is required to work with BC ferries (a union position)which pays 1.90/hr more to start. How does this make him less capable as a worker?

Hello.

Sides such as Jobdumping.de show the problems in Germany

High unemployment rate - approximate 14% ( in Parts of Germany over 20% )

Most unemployed persons have 1 or 2 Jobtraining ( training duration 3 years or more )

We do not have a minimum wage in Germany

Many, many, many People work for 4 – 8can.$/hr and Germany is not cheap!

I am a Sheet Metalworker ( Jobtraining 3Years / 40hr Week ), a driving Instructor ( Jobtraining 1 Year 40hr Week), a Mechanical technician ( Jobtraining 2Years 40hr Week), a psychological Adviser ( Jobtraining 1.5 Year 40hr Week), and I am a very good Testdriver for Cars. I want to work for 5can.$/hr - but I do not get a job in Germany!

Sides such as Jobdumping.de - the last Chance for many Persons to found work!

Sorry for my bad english!
