and the captain of the sub is quoted as saying oops!!!!

quote:
DUBAI: A U.S. nuclear-powered submarine collided with a Japanese oil tanker in the Strait of Hormuz, through which 40 percent of the world's oil supplies travel, officials said.

No one was hurt in the accident that happened Monday night in the 34-mile, or 55-kilometer, wide strait, which is bordered by Iran and Oman and serves as the entrance to the Gulf.

Damage to the fast-attack submarine, the Newport News, and the supertanker, the Mogamigawa, was light and there was no resulting spill of oil or leakage of nuclear fuel, officials from the U.S. Navy and the Japanese government said.

Both ships remained able to navigate, navy officials said.

As I recall, the sub captain involved in the accident near Hawaii with a Japanese tourist boat had the same reaction.

Paraphrasing: "Oopsie. We rule the seas; You shouldn't be in our way when we surface without warning."
