I had office jobs in the 1990's and multitasking(working on several jobs at once)was the big thing then.

Does anybody know where the concept originated?

Does anybody know if it's actually been made to work in any workplaces on this planet?

Frankly, the whole concept has always stumped me.
I never understood why it was thought to be better to have, say, twelve tasks in a state of partial completion rather than have four or five tasks ACTUALLY DONE.

Why did anyone think this was a good idea? Does anybody still think so?
