I would like to see glass containers, mustard jars, jam jars, pickle jars etc. Returned or collected at one's door to be re-used.

I would also like to see milk put back in a glass bottle.

I would like to see wine bottles returned to the outlet and re-used.

I would like to see plastic bags banned.

Disposable diapers banned.

Please don't come up with all the people that would be put out of work. That is really lame and I think our environment needs to see a radical change and we as a society need to radically change.

I recently intercepted 20 3-litre, plastic, milk containers headed to a landfill. These I cut apart to cover young tomato plants in order to reduce transplant shock.

While we're constantly informed of the necessity of dairy products to maintain health, there is sparse discussion of the obscenely high prices of many of those products.

In B.C., if those previously-mentioned containers had contained a soft drink they would have yielded $4.00 in returns.

Why is the dairy industry given a free ride in this matter? It is a multi-million dollar industry that should be made as responsible as others. Pressure from a particular marketing board, perhaps?

The issue is far from insignificant.

A lot of people do this. Plastic takes how many years to break down? Here in québec plastic milk containers are recyclable. My original question was why do we not return to glass containers and re-use?
Just checked up on plastic. It seems that glass takes longer to disappear than plastic BUT:
This tells of the danger.
