Darude, last night in Edmonton. My word. These young people know how to have fun. What have I been missing out on all these years? Ecstasy without chemistry (though I wouldn't be adverse to that next time), unless you count a couple of screwdrivers and (he admitted red-faced) cigarettes. If you like dancing I'd recommend Darude. DrConway, you've expressed a liking for techno/dance. Who do you like?

lance: what's wrong with ecstasy WITH chemistry? My daughters did a fair amount of the chemical "Ecstasy" and it didn't hurt them a bit. They were lucky, though, because it seems they were getting fairly pure stuff. I'm sure they used it partly because it was "all the rage" but also because I, in my ignorance of it, urged them to not get involved. I had earlier told them that having sex, drinking, and doing weed was okay, to which one of them said, "Dad, you're taking all the fun out of it." There was more fun in ecstasy because of its "naughty" aroma. Just so you don't think I'm totally lunatic, I warned them of the REAL dangers of sex (STD's and unwanted pregnancy), drinking (not to be combined with driving in any circumstance), and dope (no dangers there) Sorry, this was way off topic.

Nothing at all. I'm just saying I had a marvellous time without it. Knowing practically no-one in Edmonton, I wasn't sure who or where the trustworthy chemistry distributors might be. My spider-sense told me there really weren't that many on E there. Certainly there weren't likely many people, if anyone, selling. It was a licensed venue with lots of bruisers for security. I did watch a near freak-out by one girl whose friend said she was on K. Her look of terror and despair reminded me of... well, the one or two bad experiences I've had with psychedelics. Yes, DrC, they played Sandstorm, which was great. But what I particularly liked was when he got a vocal sample from the crowd (by getting us to chant), then worked that into a new song created on the spot. I expected to come away with ringing ears. I didn't, and in fact you could hold a conversation there, of sorts. It wasn't nearly as loud as some popunkaroll gigs I've been to. I think the difference was the lack of massed screaming guitars. The bass was so loud it rattled my ribs, but seemed to do little damage to my eardrums.
