A couple days ago someone very close to me was using "sexsomnia" as an msn alias. I asked him what it meant but was obviously given an incomplete explanation. I had no idea it was a 'condition' used sucessfully as a rape defense! I wonder why this nugget of information was left out?

So, this rapist gets off after admitting it's happened 4 times before. He says this 'condition' is brought on by sleep deprivation and drinking. Claims he's going to "cut down". Shouldn't he be obligated to give up booze and late nights entirely?

The law could not have required that this man cut down on personal habits that may or may not aggravate a condition he didn't even know about. Why assume this guy, that a jury acquitted, must be guilty before even bothering to familiarize yourself with the case? Furthermore, if a man and a woman have sex in their sleep, why does that make the man guilty of rape? Junk science? What the fuck are your scientific credentials? Sleepwalking, including "sexsomnia" is very real.
