The Alpine War has begun!

Who will gain control of the world's supply of secret bank accounts, yummy chocolates and cuckoo clocks? Which reminds me of this Orson Welles line in "The Third Man":

quote:
In Italy, for 30 years under the Borgias, they had warfare, terror, murder, bloodshed, but they produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, and the Renaissance. In Switzerland they had brotherly love, they had 500 years of democracy and peace, and what did that produce? The cuckoo clock.

Who's going to be the first to say that this is an American proxy war for stratigic control of Leichtenstein's uh... postage industry?

Apparently, another larger European country has done worse. (Linked from the previous article)

Brits invade Spain (2002)

quote:
An attempt to show off their prowess at dawn assaults went badly wrong for a unit of heavily armed British Royal Marines at the weekend when they accidentally invaded the wrong country.

The platoon of some 30 marines stormed from a landing craft on to the San Felipe beach in the Spanish town of La Linea, carrying 60mm mortars and SA80 assault rifles, and took up defensive positions on the sand.

Instead of being fired on with blank rounds by fellow British soldiers pretending to be the enemy, the marines found themselves being stared at by startled local fishermen.
The enemy, when they appeared, turned out to be two blue-uniformed officers from La Linea's municipal police force, who informed the detachment of marines that they were not, as they had thought, in Gibraltar.....

....The marines beat a hasty retreat and went off to find the real Gibraltar. This, locals observed, was easily recognisable because it had a 1,398ft high rock sticking out of it.

At least they didn't miss one of the 7 natural wonders of the world.

First Switzerland in an act of chocolatecide by using its power forces the Hershey plant in Ontario to close.

Now the try to invade Liechtenstein.

I am shocked and outraged by this overt act of war against little and powerless Liechtenstein.

When will the agressor be stopped.

As I posted in another thread since:

Stand back world we now have another super power at large.
It seems that a company of Swiss soldiers invaded poor little Liechtenstein.

To make matters worse Liechtenstein does not have an army to defend itself.

quote:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
According to Swiss daily Blick, the 170 infantry soldiers wandered just over a mile across an unmarked border into the tiny principality early Thursday before realizing their mistake and turning back.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It is rumoured that the Swiss soldiers returned chanting "today Liechenstein tomorrow the world"

It is worse than I had originally thought.

The Swiss have taken over Canada. It is a Swiss conspiracy.

Swiss made watches dictate our every move.

Swiss chocolates are everywhere

and worse of all. the Swiss have set up recruiting centres across Canada. These training and recruiting centres are innocently names Swiss Chalet.

The Swiss protect the vatican with the Swiss Guards. Protect or influence? Hmmm. The Swiss run the Roman Catholic Church as well.

For too long we have been living under the thumb of this gross dictatorial country.

Rise up I say.

Rise up against the Swiss !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, we must stop evil Swiss agressors!
I heard in the media they wish to create a "Greater Switzerland" and set up banks and chocolate factories all over Central Europe.
Can you imagine the horror?
Innocent children have been hurt by chocolate dealers, but now this just got worse...

Oh and how about that Madreline Allbright speech on the issue.
She said the Swiss president would kill anyone who's not Swiss but consoled us that NATO planes are ready to roll.

Oh and the scariest revelation:
Willy Wonka was recruited by the Swiss!

It's about time someone took it to the Lichtensteinians... those bastards have been hiding FAR too long by being small and normally unrecognized. Hell, they're so sneaky I didn't even know they BOARDERED Switzerland (and I'll bet a lot of swiss didn't know either).

I say we let the Swiss take care of this, and we get back to our war against the Danish re: hans island.

Hilarious? I don't know. I didn't think anything was hilarious.

I was just saying that there actually IS a serious group called "Hands Off Venezuela". I wasn't sure whether Doug knew that, or whether he was making an unconscious play on the name.
