Rest here. All apparently in reaction to the London bombings, these sorts of intrusions are now justified.

These and other measures brought in will likely be challenged in the European Court of Human Rights. This interview with the EU Privacy Supervisor discusses some of the relevant issues at the EU level and this BBC link details all the repression of Italy's law.
