A new parliament for Africa

Who knows how important this is going to become, but today the first pan-African parliament is being inaugurated in Addis Ababa.

The EU, in some respects, took close to 30 years to fully form into the entity it is today. If I were the advisor to the AU's top brass, I would definitely say "think long-term, think slow but steady." Rushing to try and duplicate the EU and imprint it onto Africa in just 5 years is too failure-prone, IMHO.

If only Africa had heeded the advice of its own intellectuals' since obtaining independance, and if only they in the 'North' had not meddled...who knows...still good advice though Doc.

Well, if I may coin an aphorism...

Photocopying a book doesn't mean you can write great literature.

Hopefully South Africa dominates the AU.

The last thing we need is Southern US-style homophobia, all too prevalent in much of Africa.
