The EU, in some respects, took close to 30 years to fully form into the entity it is today. If I were the advisor to the AU's top brass, I would definitely say "think long-term, think slow but steady." Rushing to try and duplicate the EU and imprint it onto Africa in just 5 years is too failure-prone, IMHO.

If only Africa had heeded the advice of its own intellectuals' since obtaining independance, and if only they in the 'North' had not meddled...who knows...still good advice though Doc.

Hopefully South Africa dominates the AU.
The last thing we need is Southern US-style homophobia, all too prevalent in much of Africa.
