If I may,

Yes, of course WingNut you may, we're all welcome here.

Whose feminism? What feminism?

Good question WingNut!

Well the boundries here are vague because this is an electronic forum, so it's difficult to ennumerate the who, it's best to just say we, us, the people who are participating in this discusion that's who. Our feminism. The feminism we are discusing.

Obviously, our Feminism is not homogenous, we all have different points of view, so in regard to What Feminism, in the context of my assertions, that would be the Feminism that is being proposed. And it is by proposing points of view that feminism advances and how differing points of view are analysed, and how consensus is pursued.

quote:
So the only way to for feminism to be totally inclusive and have the same meaning for everyone all the time is for feminism to stop being feminism.

This is a fallacy WingNut, what you say is not "the only way", but rather what is know as a False Deillema.

Encouraging men to be a part of feminism, and in fact hold roles, such as moderator of a feminist discusion board, does not stop feminism from being feminism. Encouraging discusion examing how sexism within feminism causes aliention towards feminism, does not stop feminism from being feminism. Rather these things promote feminism by suggesting that men and women work together not at odds towards the mutual goal of equality of the sexes, and especialy, the matter at hand given our current society, the equality of women.

The rest of you argument here tumbles down a slippery slope from this fallacy.

quote:
Are we all sexist? Well, you say you are. You want everyone else to announce they are sexist too so the healing can begin.

Not really, my motive is to end the self-rightous indignation towards my assertions in a humerous way. And to make a funny reference to the idea of my having contempt for support groups, as was said in a previous thread.

I figured if I include myself in my criticisms, and as I've said many times, I don't seperate myself from feminism's faults or virtues, it would make the topic less inflammatory. And overall, with a few exceptions, I think it has worked out that way if you compare with some of the other threads on the topic.

quote:
We do not all promote attitudes, conditions, or behaviours based on gender.

Yet there is much evidence to the contrary within this very forum.

quote:
so far, have not been met with the understanding and forgiveness of a gentle saviour.

I have not intentions of being a saviour, I am just encouraging discusion, for my benefit as much as everyone else's.

quote:
Am I sexist? I will tell you now. No.

Don't be frightened WingNut, you're among friends here, we wont judge you. We know that you want to be free from sexism. Join us in making the first step, admit there is sexism within your unchallenged expectations, within your trained behaviour. Join us is swearing to abide by the the vigilence that keeps us free from sexism.
