I'm just wondering if there are many feminists who are against abortion personally, and can still maintain their credibility? By "against personally" I do not mean they want abortion outlawed, not in the slightest. What I mean is that they are against it in the same way I might be against getting an elective surgical operation or something. Just something they would never want to do because it is unappealing to them personally.

This thread (which should be obvious - it's right at the top of the page), addresses the topic as extensively as one could hope any thread to, given that the question as you've expressed it immediately raises about fifty others, which would all need to be answered before the question could even be considered to posses any coherent meaning, I think:

I know, but that thread is getting really long, and kind of headed in a different direction.
My point is basically that I don't think it is fair to think of a woman as any less of a feminist for supporting abortion rights, but just choosing not to exercise them herself.

Kevin, the "Empathy" thread is only at 49 posts right now, and your question would certainly be relevant there. It has often been discussed on babble before, and the simple answer is yes -- a number of women here have expressed precisely the position you outline.
