Australia should refuse to allow migrants or refugees with HIV to enter the country, Prime Minister John Howard has said.[...]

Mr Howard, on a visit to Melbourne, told a local radio station he wanted to seek more advice on the issue, but said his gut feeling was that HIV sufferers should not be allowed in to the country.

"My initial reaction is no," he said. "There may be some humanitarian considerations that could temper that in certain cases, but, prime facie - no." [...]

He likened his proposed ban to the ban already imposed on people suffering from tuberculosis.

I guess John Howard is getting desperate since he has to have an election later this year and all the polls show the opposition Labour Party with massive leads of 58-42 or 60-40 over Howard's rightwing "Liberal" (sic.) Party.

I look forward to the day when desperate politicians, afraid of losing, have to take more progressive stands rather than moving further to the right (which is a very tight squeeze for John Howard).

Nope. Not in his case. Forget it. That hyper-malicious corporate-brown-nosing fascistic regime he leads is so far gone there's no hope of it doing anything right, even to save its own ass.

I know the polls there predict a Labour landslide. Let it come to pass!

Flush him down the toilet.
