quote: TONY Blair last night launched a high-risk gamble to save face over his flagship Terrorism Bill, insisting he would stand firm on allowing police to hold suspects without charge for 90 days.
The only concrete concession Mr Blair offered last night was to insert a "sunset clause" into the bill, meaning MPs will have to review its powers every year.
I think this should put the "Blair is still left, no he isn't" debate to rest.
Anyone else reminded of Gerry Conlon?

Another hideous effect of this legislation:
quote: Academics and university librarians could fall foul of the government's new terror legislation unless they curb debate in tutorials and restrict the range of research materials available to students, vice-chancellors warned last night.

Grandstanding politicians, wasting their time playing up the paranoia because they are just too compromised and ineffectual to address any serious underlying problems. Disgusting.
