Also, since this is a minority government, there could very well be ANOTHER 2006 election.

Hmm. What if Harper goes to Jean (before the House sits?) and says that he doesn't believe he'll be able to hold the confidence of the House? Without even facing a non-confidence vote?

Harper wouldn't put himself in that position. He wants a party, or multiple parties, to be able to blame the next election on. Needless to say, he doesn't want that party to be the CPC.

Somebody is definitely going to have to blink on the child care issue before Harper is going to be able to start sending out his $1200 cheques by July.
