LaBruzzo considering plan to pay poor women $1,000 to have tubes tied

quote:
Worried that welfare costs are rising as the number of taxpayers declines, state Rep. John LaBruzzo, R-Metairie, said Tuesday he is studying a plan to pay poor women $1,000 to have their Fallopian tubes tied.

"We're on a train headed to the future and there's a bridge out, " LaBruzzo said of what he suspects are dangerous demographic trends. "And nobody wants to talk about it."

LaBruzzo said he worries that people receiving government aid such as food stamps and publicly subsidized housing are reproducing at a faster rate than more affluent, better-educated people who presumably pay more tax revenue to the government. He said he is gathering statistics now.

"What I'm really studying is any and all possibilities that we can reduce the number of people that are going from generational welfare to generational welfare, " he said.

He said his program would be voluntary. It could involve tubal ligation, encouraging other forms of birth control or, to avoid charges of gender discrimination, vasectomies for men.

It also could include tax incentives for college-educated, higher-income people to have more children, he said.

I guess Rep. Dumbass hasn't bothered to notice that there's now a strong economic class linkage as to the level of education a child can receive from a parent, so instead of levelling that playing field, he'd rather just score a bunch of cheap hee-haw-yuk-yuks from the usual gang of brainless morons in the USA that think anything a Republican says is the Received Wisdom of God.

I liked this policy better the first time I heard it, when it was called "eugenics."

Me neither but I can at least give them points for honesty.

Further down the article is the fact that LaBruzzo is the representative for the 81st House district, the same area that voted in David Duke in 1989.

Commentary on theangryblackwoman's blog

Of course, drugs such as depo-provera were tested on poor Black women and Native women, as well as women in so-called Third World countries, before being approved for "all" women in the U.S. and Canada. And forced sterilization happened all the time with these same populations. Eugenics is eugenics. This time, the proposal is that you get paid for it, rather than have it forced on you.

Despicable.

Some economist will come along sooner or later and using Moon Logic, tell us all that since transactions based on an exchange of equal value blah blah blah, paying women $1000 to get their tubes tied is perfectly fine.

Earth Logic tells us that we don't put dollar values on EVERYTHING under the sun, because sometimes human decency and human morality trumps cash.

I love LaBruzzo's description of what happened during Hurricane Katrina. Let's blame the victims!

Then he goes on to blame the media for jumping on the sterilization story to improve their ratings.
