I saw Nas on the Colbert Report this last week, promoting his album "untitled"
and thought I'd follow up on the Nas - O'Reilly exchange. Has challenged O'Reilly to a debate, to challenge O'Reilly's loaded rhetoric

quote:
Last Wednesday, Nas joined protesters outside the corporation’s head office to denounce campaign coverage.

Specifically, protesters were angered by a guest who confused the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee, Barack Obama, with Osama bin Laden. The guest joked that both individuals should be assassinated.

In another segment, Fox News referred to Obama’s wife, Michelle, as “Obama’s baby mama.”
O'Reilly used the phrase "lynching party" when criticising Barack Obama's wife, one of the reasons Nas has publicly stated: "Fox poisons this country every time they air racist propaganda and try and call it news."

If Nas wants progressive cred he'd do much better to support the Rosa Clemente campaign than O-bomb-a.

It's not a question of getting "progressive cred" -- it's challenging racism in the media.

Go Nas!! My son loves his music, and my son is a very progressive kid. Hip hop I have no real issue with. I just prefer the hip hop that speaks of racism/oppression and/or positive hip hop. I can do without the bitches and whores stuff but all types music have a lot of misogyny in the lyrics.

I agree hip hop is guilty of the most horrific stuff but if you separate the wheat from the chaff, I tend to find it the most politically challenging of the genres.

I'm on a nostalgic reminiscing, see what else I can find but will definitely have to drop a fine NWA tune in here.
