As a woman who has been sexually assaulted, I find it astounding that a man who considers himself a feminist would think it's his job to open this topic in a feminist forum in the first place, and with such a provocative framework in the second.

I would suggest that posting "when my brain is numb" about such a nightmarish topic (for some of us) is just not good enough.

As another woman who has been sexually assaulted, I echo judym's concerns.

After re-reading it I've decided that it was, indeed, more offensive than I intended--and too sensitive a topic for me to brush off the way I did. My apologies.

I do intend to bring it up at some point, however I will wait until I can do it in the most constructive and productive way.

Sorry

As a woman who has been sexually assulted and narrowly escaped RAPE -and I'll call it THAT- and/or death, I also think that you were right and should have kept your lip buttoned on this issue deary.

I will address this, even though my blood is boiling.

Let me be blunt. A woman that _falsely_ accuses a man of rape, is a NUTT, and is in the VERY VERY SMALL MINORITY.

She has some mental issues that lead her to do this... maybe she was sexually abused by some other man when she was little, or maybe she's just "insane" for some reason.

No sane woman would f#cking FAKE this event, you HEAR me? No balanced woman would want to go and get a rape kit done, -DO YOU KNOW WHAT THAT IS!?- talk to usually MALE police officers, only to be passed on to a councellor to help tape her statement, and then be grilled on the stand about what happened, where and why she was, what she was wearing and was she sure, unless it sure as hell HAPPENED, OKAY!!!???

Most women who are sexually assaulted don't even report it, WHY? Because of the obsession some men have with the ones that "cry" rape, and even the thought of being examined like some brood mare, looking at that bastard again and actually having to EXPLAIN what happened to a bunch of strangers REPEATEDLY, and then after all that, to be QUESTIONED as to whether or not they are telling the truth, just SICKENS most women and it feels like they are being raped, sodimized, beaten, pissed on, etc all OVER AGAIN.

SO, yes, this does happen RARELY. Just like some MEN like to capture children, chop their bodies into pieces and stick them in jars. Should I fixate on this when discussing how men are treated ? NO. Because it is focussing on an extreme minority and therefore is totally useless for thoughtful consideration.

Do only women and girls get molested/raped? Are only men the perpetrators?

Oh, vaudree, that was not the point of the thread, and no one has said it here. Ugh.

... which is NOT to say it made a claim that this is the only kind of assault there is.

What would happen if we took the original post and those that followed and changed the he's to she's? What would stop a man from testifying against a woman?

What qualities would make a man easier or more difficult to rape? What qualities would make it easier or harder for a woman to get away with raping a man?

Just expanding the topic a bit as is my obnoxious habit. Also since many of you have personal experiences switching the roles may help us distance ourselves from the event a bit.

Ugh I'm sorry.

I was not addressing men or women or their actions in that post, but rather what should be changed in Law...

Audra: any way for me to take back this thread creation in entirety until I can do it without hurting people? Once in awhile it is ok to offend, but I think I may be doing it on a bit larger scale than I want to right now. And I certainly don't want to hurt anyone.

Audra's unavailable right now. I'll close the thread, if that's okay.
