According to CNN President Carter's son Jack has won a primary for Nevada Senate race.

Does he have a chance? If Jack wins he will join the exclusive club of 2nd generation Senators in the USofA

quote:
RENO, Nevada (AP) -- Nevada voters picked a former first son to take on an incumbent Republican U.S. senator, set up an intriguing governor's race and delivered a razor-thin victory to a GOP candidate hoping to fill the state's only open U.S. House seat.

Democrat Jack Carter, son of former President Carter, on Tuesday easily advanced to a November general election race against incumbent U.S. Sen. John Ensign, R-Nevada.

Carter back to DC?

It is sad that President Carter is still referred to as dumb. I think he was one of the smartest men to ever be President of the United States.

Many forget, did not know, or could care less that Carter graduated from the US Naval Academy and was one of the hand picked few to be a Captain of a US Navy Nuclear Submarine. He passed the most difficult job interview in the US Navy. He survived Admiral Rickover's selection process.

We can call Carter many things but dumb is not one of them.

I suppose you are correcte as regards his brains.
I dislike him for his friendship with murdering dictator terrorists like Castro, Arafat etc.

Also for not refusing the Nobel Peace prize as it was meant to be an insult to BUsh, ,,, and many other of Carter's idiotic statements which give solace to the West's enemies

To so callously dismiss Carter tells the reader alot more about the poster than the insult implies. Granted Carter is a republican and therefore he definitely has questionable political associations.

But for the past decade and more the guy has been an inspiration and a benefactor of the Habitat for Humanity people and for that he deserves uncritical applause.

As for the son, only time will tell, but as long as the nation continues with the corrupt political party system of decision making, there is little hope for real change in that country even if some truly responsible people happen to get elected to office. Simply because the most self serving individuals and groups will always be able to buy whatever party they want to manifest their own agendas.

Well, if friendship with murdering dictator terrorists is your litmus test, there hasn't been a smart president since possibly Lincoln. Saddam, the Shah, Batista, Somoza, the list is pretty long.

He had every right to accept the Nobel, the insult to Bush was a side benefit. Bush deserves many insults, far more direct than that one.

As for solace to the West's enemies, the west's biggest enemies are those who use the power of the west to subjugate other peoples for narrow personal profit and gain. It can be very profitable in the short-term (see Halliburton), but in the long-term the subjugated people will hit back (see 911).

Sometimes the west, or at least some of the power elites in the west, deserve enemies.

correct but President Taft's son Robert was a Senator. Hence the exclusive club

It actually is a good trivia question as well. Since I do not believe any other son of a President served in the Senate.

Bush 1 was the son of a Senator but that is the other way around

Libertarian sounds like all those Americans who believe their own myths and make-believe stories about their history and their greatness and the right-wing slander about good men like President Carter.

They definitely do work in Canada. There's an H4H in a number of Canadian cities including Toronto.
