This was a silly game show format (loosely based on "speed-dating" between the party reps & undecided voters) & I've never warmed to Carol& Evan, but the final vote was 2 for NDP, 1 for CPC & 1 for Green with 0 for Liberal.

The party reps were Line Maheux, Jamey Heath, John Duffy & Andrea Horan. It's only a vote of 4 Canadians, but somehow encouraging. Repeats a midnight on Newsworld.

I thought that Jamey actually had a legitimate shot at winning over the man who decided to go Green and the woman who decided to go Conservative, as well as the two votes that he did gain.

And, I thought that John Duffy proved himself once again to be a cheap shot artist when he "congratulated" Jamey on his performance -- and referenced the fact that he hadn't won the NDP nomination in Ottawa Centre.

I agree with both of you -- I was just about ready to throw something at the TV and then Chris voted NDP and I changed my mind. I found it mostly an annoying exercise but I watched it anyway. Hiss to me.

Just sat through the repeat. Why do I even bother with the CBC anymore?

Evan Solomon referring to John Duffy as Duff in the snippet you describe above illustrated the cosy relationship between the CBC and the Liberals that has done more damage to journalism in this country than Conrad.

The only good thing that may come from a CPC victory--the end of this public-funded crap that is our national broadcaster.

Right, and leave us to the tender mercies of CanWest Global, or as some refer to it, CanWest Goebbels.

No, I hear you. But at least with CanWest Global we know what we're getting whereas with the CBC we get lulled into a false sense of security: if something isn't overtly right-wing then it must be progressive or at least okay (i.e. fair and unbiased).

I worry much more about the insidious corruption of "fair and unbiased" these days.

I really enjoyed that program, I know it was a bit of a reality knockoff but it was interesting nonetheless. I was really surprised Chris went NDP, which says alot about their broad level of appeal. Our NDP candidate from my other home riding in Huron-Bruce is also a farmer, and it makes me wonder how much success he can gain amongst other farmers in that riding. I always assume the farmer will go Cons. but maybe I'm not giving them enough credit.

The Halifax lady really astounded me, I fear this may be typical of people just looking for a change, who need help, but don't understand politics. In such a progressive city I'm surprised she hasn't gotten swept up by the McDonnough campaign.

The other lady who voted NDP also kind of surprised me, I figured she'd go Liberal. The fellow from Winnipeg was the only one who'se vote didn't really surprise me.

I thought the speed dating experiment was interesting. I was surprised that the woman from Mississauga went NDP. She really focused on running the country from a "business" perspective, that I found a bit off putting. The dude from Winnipeg annoyed me from the get go. Woo, you went to vote, but spoiled your ballot every time. Like there isn't any choice for you. Next time, stay at home suck.

I had hopes the oil guy contestant would go Green also.

I was just happy to see the Greens in this thing and the Bloc absent.

The idealist in the group voted Green

Thought this was as good as anywhere. Michael Enright was on this morning and had economists explain the whole green shift idea for 2 HOURS! Clearly they are bringing out all the stops to reelect libs that will lose in the election. Did anyone else listen to the show? I was distracted but when I turned an ear to listen, it was clear that they put a lot of emphasis on slamming the BC NDP on the carbon tax, while extolling it's virtues.

Yes, I listened for a long time but it wasn't very informative either way. Listening to the CBC, one gets the idea that it's just inertia that stops Green initiatives from being adopted.

I just can't believe it's that simple.
