Business 2.0 has come out with its 2004 list of the 101 dumbest incidents in the world of business this year. There's even a Canadian one:

"In Canada, General Motors is forced to come up with a new name for its Buick LaCrosse sedan after discovering that crosse is a slang term for masturbation in Quebec."

Can't you just see the ad campaign? Good lookin' guy cruisin' down an adventurous looking highway, very conspicuously driving with one hand.

I'm thinking, give it a week to appear or not appear on Snopes.

Here's their debunking of the Chevrolet Nova myth.

I've seen that too. Almost impossible to get some people to believe it's not true, but I think Snopes is a fairly trustworthy site (notwithstanding the rumour that they once started one). I wonder if the LaCroisse story, which is (apparently) true will take off in the same way as the apocryphal Nova story?
