REAL Women calls themselves "Canada's alternative women's movement." Their motto is "Women's rights, but not at the expense of human rights." Their name is an acronym; it stands for "Realistic, Equal, Active, and for Life." And make no mistake, when they say "for Life", they don't mean, like "forever." Other perceived threats to Canadian women are socially funded day care (two articles), barrier-free immigration (two articles) and medical marijuana (one article).

It’s hard to imagine the world in which REAL Women live. It is a world wherein women are safe from harassment and the glass ceiling and lack of access to good services. A world wherein women are in grave danger from men and women marrying other men and women, the prevalence of other expressions of faith, and the presence of a government agency that deals with gender equity.
