The Economic Community of West African States Community Court of Justice said Niger had failed in its obligations to Hadijatou Mani, who was sold into slavery as a child in 1996 for about £300. The court ordered Niger to pay 10 million CFA francs (£12,200) (that is $CAN 25,000) in damages. There is no right of appeal.
