Election Challenge to the NDP: Take the Road of Struggle

quote:
We need a workers government in Ottawa, one pledged to champion the interests of the working class. The NDP and other working class organizations must break with the lesser-evil framework of politics in Canada and support the struggles of working people.

The NDP is a democratic organization. If you don't like it, grab your friends and allies, join it, and change it.

I am already a member of the NDP. Changing it is easier said than done.

Can someone please tell by what is meant by the "working class"?

Is this term based on a tax bracket system?

Or is it an ideology term?

No. Simply, it means people who earn wages. The working poor are employed people whose wages and earnings are below the poverty line.

(A preview feature would be rilllly useful.)

In terms of socialist theory, the working class comprises those who do waged labour. This group excludes professionals, i.e. doctors, lawyers, etc. and small shopkeepers, who form the petty bourgeoisie.

And then we have the buzz-word of McGuinty Liberals in Ontario and Stephen Harper, and - often - Paul Martin:

"Ordinary Working Canadians"

I guess anyone NOT working by default is EXTRA-ordinary?

I really hate how this cliche babble-buzz-bullsh*t is not being challenged.

I wish someone would stop these bozos and ask if they really mean to exclude the disabled, the unemployed, retired seniors, students, etc.
