I'm curious about something.

I went to a restaurant today and the employer was very mean spirited in his interactions with the employee to the point I was uncomfortable. i.e. "look what I have to put up with..."

When I went to put a tip on the credit card she told me not to bother because it just goes to the employer. He doesn't release it to her.

Is there anything I can do or is it sort of her problem/her business?

If your waitperson was correct, then that would be illegal. What she may havebeen referring to, though is a "tip-sharing" pool. Worth checking into though, I'd say.
