Just in case anyone is even remotely confused about the neo-con 'support' for soldiers have a look here:

quote:
After suffering paralysis, brain damage, lost limbs and other wounds in war, nearly 900 soldiers have been saddled with $1.2 million in government debt because of the military's "complex, cumbersome" pay system, congressional investigators said Thursday.

The report from the Government Accountability Office said another 400 who died in the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan had $300,000 in debt but that the Defense Department did not pursue reimbursement from the estates of those who were killed in combat.

Commondreams.org

This is just one of the many ways these people screw over the men and women they use as cannon fodder and civilian dissent. And it's not just Bush, expect no better from Harper, our chief Northern neo-con.

Soldiers would do well to consider whom they are aligning themselves to (as well as whom they are defending)

As someone who has served both in the US military and in the civilian and military pay branches of the Department of Defense I can tell you that these "problems" have been going on since at least the Second World War - we simply replaces an inefficient people based clerical system with a computer one. I believe that the inefficiency is on purpose. They've had decades to fix the problem and have not made a move to do so. These sorts of problems with soldier's pay were rife during the first Gulf War - what was done? Nothing. They don't give a damn. When we were in basic training, our drill sergeants warned us about Army pay problems and said that they will go after us with bill collectors and such if they can.

Yeah, we really support the troops down here. Most of the time you feel like a sheep being fleeced.
