An article at BBC News talks about Xmas & anti-consumerism, with a visit to Santa's Ghetto in Soho, London and some words with the owner of the Anti-Christmas Zone website, this year complete with "anti-Santa training game". quote:
"I did it as a bit of a laugh for my friends but now it's been linked into other anti-Christmas sites around the world," he told the BBC News website.

Buy Nothing Christmas, started by Mennonites on Canada's West Coast and now based in Manitoba, of interest in an egalitarian, counter-culture sort of way. Their Buy Nothing Catalogue consists of photo submissions from folk who describe a cherished experience that cost $0.00. Apparently they are not affiliated with the Buy Nothing Day folk. All this makes me feel somewhat better. Every time I step outside my door I feel somehow not part of what's going on for the next few days. I celebrate the Wiccan sabbats and find the anti-consumerist ideas above very cheering.
