Ironically it was on Valentine's Day:

quote:
A federal appeals court issued a Valentine's Day ruling upholding an Alabama law banning the sale of sex toys. But the devices won't disappear from store shelves immediately.

The 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that Alabama's sex toy ban is constitutional because "the state's interest in preserving and promoting public morality provides a rational basis for the challenged statue."

The new ruling, made public Thursday, was issued by a three-judge panel of the 11th Circuit. Novelty store owner Sherri Williams can ask the full court to review the case and, if rejected, appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court.

In 1998, the Alabama Legislature enacted a law that bans the sale of sex toys, but not their possession.

Oh, it would not do for us uppity females to be able to purchase toys to gain satisfaction if we are not getting it from sig other, or if we are not attached.

Freaks they are all freaks, destroying 10's of thousands of lives is ok, but god help it if you can buy a sex toy.

Hyprocrites all of em.

The funny thing is, it's not just single women who are into sex toys. I'm betting a huge share of the market comes from happily-married or -partnered couples looking to add a little something to the bedroom.

Yes but michelle, I covered that with "not getting" satisfaction from sig other, after all, didn't you know women are just supposed to procreate NOT enjoy it. If we enjoyed it some would have us put a letter on chests. And after all, it would appear that only the missionary position is legal down there.

Praise the Lord! They are doing God's Work in Alabama, and the Judges are upholding the morals, and protecting the innocence of children from those horrible deviant womenfolk and their dirty sin machines. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm off to the Walmart to buy a gun, some ammo, and some beer for my kid's school project on the Sanctity of the second ammendment.

Anything can be a sex toy. According to P.J. O'Rourke...

"There are a number of mechanical devices which increase sexual arousal, particularly in women. Chief among these is the Mercedes-Benz 450SL."

If that's true, maybe the vehicular traffic on Alabama's highways and byways will start to look more '19th century' in the near future.
