I've seen this topic posted here several times in the last few weeks and I'm surprised by the lack of response it's had. Maybe the story of the Richmond Fire Department hasn't been as big an issue in the rest of Canada. Or maybe harassment is still a tabu subject for Canadian workers. If we talk about it, we have to aknowledge it and our own experiences. (Bad for the career, ya know.)Early this month, Richmond's fire chief went public saying would fix the problem by offering all of the men 'sensitivity training.' There was a picture of him in the paper, smirking like a teen, beside his big, shiny, red engine. Instead of sensitivity training, how about they fire the fire chief? And after that, every other firefighter that participated in harassment of co-workers? I'm disgusted that this hasn't already been done! [ 21 April 2006: Message edited by: beaver ]
