Crank, let me be blunt. A movement claiming that because Peter MacKay is a "dick" he owes you $50.00 is NOT a good movement. Your short blog is about 100% airy rhetoric, 0% substance.

Just today, I lost out on winning $10.00 because someone decided to be a dick during a social experiment our university class conducted. But I didn't ask for it back. (I simply yelled "bastard!")

Let's look at your arguements:

1) "Peter MacKay took the PC Party and merged it with the Alliance, thereby creating the de facto Canadian Republican Party (although I will grant that our Repubs are smarter than their Repubs)."

So did a huge majority of the PC membership. (Although the fast one he pulled on Orchard during the convention is worth noting, which you didn't)

2) "Peter MacKay invited war criminal and Bush apologist Condoleeza Rice up to Canada (Halifax, in fact) to do a 9/11 rah-rah on Sept 11, 2006. That by itself makes him owe at least $40."

So has most other foreign ministers to every other US Secretary of States. Now, he could have critisized Rice, like Putin (whom I also dislike by the way) did to Bush when he came over for the G8 summit.

3) "(This is my personal beef) During said visit, traffic was hoplessly snarled and I was late by 2 hours picking up my kids."

Uh.... ask for public transit? Or a map.

I'm not usually this harsh towards bloggers, but this blog reeks of amateurism.

Actually, they didn't - or at least, the PC Party as it existed didn't. After Harper & MacKay put together their shady deal, they arranged for Alliance members to buy PC memberships across the country, swamping the vote. We'll never know how the average PC loyalist voted - which is just as the yanqui-worshipping neocons planned it.

Today they walk about like Ed Gein, with the skin of the Party of Confederation putrifying on their backs.

Conservative my ass.

Dr.Crank, your political analysis is brilliant, but McKay might have trouble coming up with your 50 bucks. After Rice blew her government's budget on cocaine, booze, casinos and candy McKay had to spend all his government's budget on bribes to shut everybody up.

I wouldn't be the cranky in the least if he coughed up 50 bucks. Canada has gone down the shitter so badly in recent years that I've got to be a victim somehow. Gimmie!

I've heard that rumour mentioned several times. Is there any proof of it, that you're aware of?

Hey, I'd love 50 bucks too.

As for the story of how I got screwed out of 10 bucks, I just found 20 dollars in the public washing machine.

I love Karma.

The truth is out there, if you choose to find it. A number of prominent PCs petitioned the courts to stop the tainted ratification process - MacDonald, Stevens and Clark among them.

All the article says is that "Canadian Alliance members are reportedly joining the Progressive Conservatives en masse, so as to ensure the merger obtains the two-thirds majority required under the PC constitution." It's the same rumour repeated, without giving any specifics. That is what I was looking for.

Far be it for me to doubt the veracity of an article published by the International Committee of the Fourth International (ICFI).

Sorry, should have realized that the only way you'd believe it would be from the pages of a Sun 'newspaper'.

So be it.

BTW, it is "out there". Next time, find it yourself.

Well, if David Orchard and the Fourth International both agree, it must be true.

It always rather baffles me - how do the functionally illiterate manage to post?

David Orchard neither wrote nor commented upon said article.

You are absolutely right, LTJ.

How on earth could anyone follow a link to the David Orchard website and read an article with this paragraph:

"David Orchard, the Tories' troublesome anti-merger champion, currently claims support of about 25% of the party's membership of about 40,000. That means if a vote were held today, Tory ratification of the merger deal would require the support of about 27,000 out of the roughly 30,000 members not devoted to Orchard."

and possibly associate the article with David Orchard? Only a complete moron!

I pray to Gaia that your superior brain can somehow be put to use beyond the confines of this puny website to advance the cause of personkind.
