Statutory holidays need some revamping in my opinion...infact I have come up with a bit of a scheme for your consideration.

15 (non weekend) paid days off per year for all Canadians. As well, an associated recreation card with a value of say..$1500 (that has no market value) but can be redeemed with many travel and recreation/cultural enterprizes.

This will force people to take time off, relax and enjoy themselves.

(edit for puctuation)

Sounds good. Parenthetically, a few years ago a Tamil co-worker who had arrived not too long before asked me about any uniquely Canadian traditional holidays. I told her we were the only juristiction left who still celebrates Queen Victoria's birthday. She was incredulous but amused.

We should have an all dieties day. It may be a bit Eurocentric, but how about Wayne and Schuster day?

Theres a few of us on this site (IM sure), that would go for National Aboriginal Day as a national holiday (first monday in June)....

As far as I know, Here in quebec, only people on reserves get the day, but its swapped for St Jean Baptiste Day.

A very cool idea, SITC. It could be like the Civic Holiday, where one celebrates local history - or in this case, the local native culture.

Count me in.
