I jsut needed to rage here! I jsut attended a legal conference in San Francisco and I met someone there who was telling me about the UN anti-spam conference he was at in Geneva a few weeks ago.
What he said absolutely gobstopped me and I havent stopped raging about it. Here im used to spam touting penis extensions, herbal stamina increases etc. But in africa, he told me, spam touts fake aids drugs at a low price. As we know, aids is a epodemic of disaster there and most cannot find or pay for the drugs they need. So this spam gives false hope and essentially kills people and Im heartsick over it.

It is as despicable as anything I have heard. Just as a first thought, I am thinking that the International Criminal Court of Justice should have its mandate expanded to include such crimes.

As I put spammers somewhere near child molesters and neoNazis on my morality scale, this doesn't surprise me a bit.
'Course, these spam-scum wouldn't have a niche at all if real AIDS drugs were actually available to the people who need it. A disgraceful situation, all-round.

You need money for that sort of research and since AIDs has not spread to the majority of the western world yet, it will continue to stay on the back burner. Africa on its own is not rich enough financially to support that sort of research.

Exactly. As long as there's more money to be made on drugs to give rich Western men better erections, that's where the drug companies will focus their attention. Leaving African AIDS victims to the mercy of the spam swindlers.
