I don't know if this is the right forum for this, but I'd like to warn others about the insidiousness of the sms.ac network.

I got one request and then a second request from a friend begging me to join this network. So I thought what's the harm? She must like it to ask me twice to join, let's see what this is all about.

I entered in my cell number against my better judgment, but then it asked for my MSN email and password. Thankfully I drew the line there. Later I found out that the reason why they do this is so they can spam all your contacts making it sound like you really really want them to join.

I looked at the sight and really didn't find it that interesting. So i just left it at that. I did notice a lot of talk of free sms messages though, but i didn't see the point.

However, it gets worse. They automatically send you messages to your phone everyday with quotes. The first one ironically enough was "Life is an unbroken succession of false situations". After a week, I got tired of it quick and stopped the messages a week later.

Just now I get my phone bill and find that despite all the jazz from my carrier about free incoming messages I was charged 25 cents a message. Not only did this company spam me they stole money from me. I was taken to this site under false pretenses and I never asked to be sent messages.

I don't have a cell phone, but I've been getting answering machine spam (yeah, I don't have a VM box either) on my land line. It's happened twice in the last few days, same guy, reading some script about some contest. It sounded like English wasn't his first language, and that combined with his minimal enthusiasm and the low quality of my machine means that I don't know exactly what I was supposed to have won... I suspect it's one of those timeshare condo scams.

Looks like there's a google ad for a similar company https://www.vazu.com/ as sms.ac on this very thread. NIce.
