A metro woman who alleges that one of her building superintendents sexually assaulted her is being forced to leave her apartment. The woman, whose identity is banned from publication, has to move at the end of the month because the management company that runs her building won't renew her lease.
One of the superintendents it employs faces two charges each for alleged sexual assault and uttering threats.
The woman doesn't know where she'll go. She faces long waiting lists to get into government-subsidized housing.
"It makes me wonder why people go forward," said the mother of one. "It's just not fair. I've been put down to the lowest."
The woman gave management staff a letter dated March 8 outlining an alleged sexual harassment complaint against the super.
Citigroup Properties Ltd. gave the woman notice to leave April 13.
Citigroup president Earl Munroe initially told The Daily News the woman came forward with allegations after she was given notice to leave.
Citigroup property manager Wendy Dube later confirmed notice was given to the woman after she brought forward sexual harassment concerns. Her outlook would have been different had the woman told her she was sexually assaulted rather than harassed, Dube added.
Dube said a compilation of issues was the reason for giving a non-renewal notice.
She said the woman was given notice because the relationship had broken down between landlord and tenant.
