Guess I'll follow the pattern of putting "techie" stuff in "earning and spending"

Anyway, here's the Bush regime's latest scheme to put more money into the pockets of corporations....gotta remember that electric utilities in the U.S. are mostly private.

They want to allow electric power utility companies to deliver broadband internet services through the electric power lines. The Bush appointed FCC Chair
Micheal Powell is very enthusiastic about this scheme...so you know its bad.

Just one little problem with this technology...the interference from it will wipe out just about all radiocommunications in the low, medium, high and lo-VHF spectrum.

The idea has been tested already in Japan and in Europe...and they've trashed it. But there's a big push on stateside. And who knows...if they're successful down there and there's more privatization of electric utilities in Canada...we may see this stuff here too.

The American Radio Relay League...the main organization representing ham radio operators in the U.S....the folks who do all that cool volunteer emergency communications stuff are kicking up a major stink.
