The Port Elgin CAW Labour Day Parade is the second largest Labour Day parade in Ontario, and according to one, the Largest Retirees Labour Day Parade in the universe!

Events include the parade, followed by a car show, motor cycle show, bike rodeo for kids, free dinner and a short roster of speakers.

I really doubt it was bigger than the Labour Day parade in Hamilton, which traditionally is the largest parade after Toronto's. How many were in the parade? The pictures don't tell...

I wasn't there this year, but it is usually a big deal. Don't forget the CAW Centre is in Port Elgin and many members from all over make it a point to have this as a part of their Labour Day weekend.

ETA - Oh there's good old Len Hope. I hope he is doing as well as he looks in those pictures. I haven't seen the guy in years, (not since he retired) but what a booster he is for progressive issues!

Len's the best. Attended and marched with the Grey-Bruce Labour Council. This labour day parade is considered the 2nd biggest in Ontario. The CAW retires have their convention starting on the labour day weekend, so lots of folks are there in the parade. Also, the CAW busses in retires from around the area to participate.
Make no mistake, it is large.
