Like it's almost getting so mundane it's not worth posting about, but what the hell...

Alaska's Ted Stevens indicted on 7 criminal charges.

quote:
WASHINGTON — Sen. Ted Stevens, the longest-serving Republican senator and a figure in Alaska politics since before statehood, was indicted Tuesday on seven counts of failing to disclose thousands of dollars in services he received from a company that helped renovate his home.

He's been fairly unbeatable up there as an Alakan icon, but this could nudge things toward the Democrats (for that minority of babblers who think that might matter at least a bit!)

Our "Canadians" up there in Alaska really need to boot this guy out if they can stay sober long enough to find the polls.

Love the topic title.

Consider the context of these indictments: Ted Stevens was one of the biggest proponents of the two "Bridges to Nowhere" a few years ago when the money could have been spent on rebuilding New Orleans and the Gulf Coast, is known for "pork-barrel" spending projects which he can easily get through his seniority on the Senate Appropriations Committee, and like all Alaskan Republicans, advocates drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge and other projects aimed at destroying the environment for short-term economic development.
