(London) The al-Qaida terror group has named Queen Elizabeth "one of the severest enemies of Islam," the Sunday Times newspaper reported, citing a video message allegedly obtained by Britain's security service.

The Sunday Times said the remarks were contained in a video message justifying the July 7 bombings in London that killed 56 people, including the four suicide bombers. The tape was passed by Britain's MI5 domestic security service to the Queen's protection team, the newspaper said.

MI5 had obtained the full video, issued by al-Qaeda after the London attacks, after parts of it were broadcast on the Arabic satellite channel Al-Jazeera, according to the newspaper, early editions of which are available Saturday night. The newspaper also said it had viewed the full 27-minute video, which it said was circulating on extremist Web sites.

Government officials were not immediately available Saturday night to confirm the report. A Buckingham Palace spokeswoman refused comment, saying it was a matter for the police.

In the video, Ayman al-Zawahiri, a leading lieutenant of terror boss Osama bin Laden, says the Queen is responsible for what he terms Britain's "crusader laws" and calls her an enemy of Muslims, the paper said.

These guys better watch out or the Old Battleaxe is liable to sic the corgies on their asses. Or possibly even worse, ol' Phil droning on and on about "slitty-eyed foreigners". (Gawd, it's hard to say who it'd be a bigger favour to the world to rub out, al-Qaida or those parasitic Windsors....)

Oh... except "Wills"... I'd save him for later.

Pfff! "Liz Windsor"?. ha ha

She should put some of her billions of quid to better use, like improving child poverty and the mess in Iraq, Britain's latest imperialist crusade. Maybe the "slittty-eyed" and people of colour would think more of her and Phil, two of the biggest welfare bums on earth.

I hope they focus on actively going after her - after all, I bet her security is as good as anyone on the planet, and I'd rather have al-Queda expend their energies going after difficult targets than soft, easy ones.

Nah, they won't give up their soft targets. They get a kick out of killing women and children.

The Windsors lost Louis Mountbatten, uncle to Chuck, to terrorism. The Provisional IRA blew up his boat with a hidden bomb, in Donegal Bay, Ireland.

I understand she's not so bad with a gun herself.

Don't you remember some guy got into her bedroom a few years ago, and she had to keep him talking until security woke up [or maybe the butler, I forget]? Not as colourful as resorting to Chretien's Inuit sculpture, mind you; but still pretty nerve-wracking.

Yeah - it was about 1982 - Michael Fagin was his name, iirc. I imagine they'd have tightened security comsiderably over the years.

Regardless of how we might feel about Ms. Queen-lady, what do you suppose the response of the British would be to an al-Qaeda attack that killed her?

One shudders.

Well, they weren't particularly amused when the IRA blew up Mountbatten, nor were they all that jolly when the same bunch tried to blow up Maggie Thatcher. One might safely extrapolate from there, I guess.

I may regret asking, but... child-killers? How do you figure that? Iraq? Tony Blair, and his cabinet, are answerable for that. The Queen has no power.

Please to note: I care nothing for the royal family or the monarchy. I agree: silly anachronisms, parasites (though less so now that they have to pay taxes), et cetera, et cetera. But "mostly harmless," I'd have said.

I think I could squeeze by on Phil's £359,000 a year taxpayer allowance for playing polo and standing up straight once in while.

Liz, like the super-rich in the U.S., are enjoying secret tax deals with the feds, don't ever worry. She's worth at least 16 billion.

Well, Batman is pretty accomplished at slipping into lairs. Hardly a major disgrace for the Beefeaters that he was able to get past them.
