The president of Americans for Truth says it's time for the homosexuals in the Republican Party to come out of the closet.

"In recent weeks, homosexual activists have sought to 'out' various high-level GOP staffers and leaders as homosexuals, to highlight their hypocrisy in working for a socially conservative party," said Peter LaBarbera.

"Now we in the pro-family movement are calling for full disclosure for a different reason: because homosexual GOP staff and pro-'gay' policies in the party are undermining the wholesome values Republicans say they support," he said.

All homosexual staff members in both major parties need to be open about their lifestyle – "in the interest of full disclosure to the public and each member's constituents," the AFT organization said.

In the article, they appear to be targeting a Republican staffer for George Allen because they think he influenced George Allen to adopt "pro-homosexual" policies which "cost him his Senate seat".

This is gross. Basically what they're saying is, we're going to go on a witch hunt in our own party, but the Democrats should also out all the gays in their party.

Excuse me, but what? No, no. They don't get it. If the person is working against gay rights, then sure, out them to highlight their hypocrisy. But if they're not, then I don't agree with outing people at all.

What a bunch of bigoted freaks.

Just a matter of time before the same sort of thing happens up here. We have our own bigotted freaks, sadly.

Hmmmm... I agree with your premise, but I'd argue that a person working to get Repugs elected is by definition working against gay rights. That certainly doesn't justify these sickening motives that are behind the Repugs purge of LGBT's. But if it were a 3rd party with a pro-LGBT outlook outing all closeted LGBT's within the Repugs, I wouldn't have a problem (unless the person was doing work that was clearly in support of LGBT rights).

From the ruthlessly political standpoint, it's good to see the right wing start to rip apart a little bit.

From the moral standpoint. Ugh.

Now, could that sort of freakiness happen here? It alreadly has. Scott Brison left the party after being pressured to do so by so-cons and another gay conservative MP (from Ottawa?) is being pressured to do the same if I'm not mistaken.
