Babblers will be aware that the US House of Representatives is investigating Blackwater, a right-wing militia which does some of the US dirty work in Iraq and elsewhere.

They kill people at random, apparently.

So it was interesting to read that their leader, the Black Prince, aka Erik Prince, not only supports Cheney maniacs, but also the Green Party.

Note: I don't think Elizabeth May is on the take; but it is interesting how "flexible" the donation patterns can be.

Interesting, but to be fair the US Green and Canadian Green parties have as much in common as the NDP and the Republicans.

Yes, well, it was no secret that Republicans were supporting Green Candidates in the hope they would soak votes off the Democrats. Nice smear though Jeff. You are an artist with that great big brush of yours.

Democrats, rather than whingeing when challenged from the left and blowing smoke up everyones ass, as if no one noticed that the entire Democratic caucus of the Senate just voted for more money for the war in part ultimately to fund Blackwater or similar mercenary organizations, should be thinking about why the challenge is effective at all.

What? Documenting a specific, large donation to the US Green Party by the far right is a smear?

Would that then mean that if Senator Obama, or Stephen Harper got a large donation from some far right figure, it would be a "smear" to point it out?

It's not surprising that a lawless group like blackwater would play more roles than just assassin for hire . By saying they support what could be deemed a left wing political republican enemy they are showing of their multi talents. This is actually good news as it shows the right wingers feel threatened.

Governments have long used criminal organizations to do dirty work they could not get away with. The republicans are really good at circumventing the law this way...re cia prisons...abu grey..mudering civilians etc.

Now the question ..what does Canada's right wing affiliate use to do their dirty work? Media? Cia? the rcmp?...or the "dress up like insurgent squad"?

What country would not want BackWater mercenaries operating on their soil? C'mon! Afterall, it's just not a democracy unless hired guns and right-wing death squads are part of the process.

I can see it all now: environmentally responsible ex-green berets, former contras and paramilitary whackos? Ya right.

I don't understand what Elizabeth May has to do with the US Green Party.

Its a disclaimer. He says that May is not on the take, it implies that Nader is.

And the issue is Blackwater. The Democrats have been stuffing bills into Isssas pockets of 4 years now. But he wants us to believe that Hillary will be different.

Most likely the guy was trying to split the progressive (well, left of Bush) vote by boosting the third party.

Do you really think Greens anywhere would be in favour of that sort of thing?

That is hard to say. What we do know is that Democtrats have been voting in legislation to fill Issas pockets for the last 5 years. There was supposed to be some miraculous turn around after the mid terms, but there it is again, Senate vote 92-3.
