Sounds like Poles had a dreadful choice. The winner is a populist who is in favour of maintaining welfare payments etc...but braqs about speaking no foreign languages and never having been outside Poland in his life!! and is trying to sabre rattle against Germany and is also a Catholic religious freak dedicated to keeping abortion illegal denouncing homosexuality as a sickness and wanting to make Pope John paul II proud.

It seems that the guy he beat was more of a laissez faire liberal free marketeer but was more urbane and cultured and not a fanatic on Catholic tripe.

Poland is 95% Catholic. It sounds to me like the choice was obvious.

Spain is also 95% Catholic and they elected a very gay positive and pro-abortion socialist government last year!!

The vote in Poland was 55% to 45% and people were faced with a horrible choice in the run-ff betwen the winner who seemed more "leftwing" on maintinaing social programs, but was a totally reactionary on social issues (sounds like the old Real Caouette Creditiste phenom in Canada!) OR someone who was moderate on social issues who weas verty neo-con on the economy.

Needless to say all those old ladies in black genuflecting in front of sham statues of the Virgin Mary all voted for the Catholic fanattic than wants to keep old age pension money flowing and is trying to re-fught WW2 by picking fights with Germany.

Do you guys have any information regarding the turnout? If the turnout was low, then the results cannot be said to speak for the population of Poland.
