I've spent so much time focusing on the politics of the Middle East over the past three years that I have forgotten how important it is to focus on other parts of the world. Can someone provide me with a couple of well-written comprehensive books on the Yugoslavia, its people, politics and wars. Thankyou

Go to the section 949.7 in your Public Library.
Among the many books I've read on the Balkans, or rather, Yugoslavia, is one written in 2002 by Diana Johnstone, an American who has lived in Europe for many years. Its "Fools' Crusade" - Monthly Review Press.
Canada's Scott Taylor has written; INAT Images of Serbia and the Kosovo Conflict . A recent book is "Yugoslavia Unraveled" edited by Raju Thomas with ten authors contributing including Edward Herman. Ted Galen Carpenter of the Cato Institute and author of "NATO's Empty Victory" gives it a good rating but it is rather expensive to order.
There is an award winning film called "The Avoidable War" which was shown on the History Channel. You'll find it on the Web. I've an extra copy if you want.
