Among the 1,000 people who work in the U.S. Embassy in Iraq, only 33 are Arabic speakers and only six speak the language fluently, according to the Iraq Study Group report released on Wednesday.

"All of our efforts in Iraq, military and civilian, are handicapped by Americans' lack of knowledge of language and cultural understanding," the bipartisan panel said in its report. "In a conflict that demands effective and efficient communication with Iraqis, we are often at a disadvantage."

I can see it all now. Exxon will sponsor ESL courses with an emphasis on fast-tracking profit sharing agreements for the oil. The crooks won't stop until Iraqi's are liberated from their national income.

As I recall, just prior to the invasion, the US fired some 16 Arabic translators for being .... gay. 'Cause like, you don't want some gay guy or gal sitting beside you and translatin' stuff. D'ya?

They also carefully screened all doctors to send only those who were anti-abortion.

If they had only put some detail into what happens after the aerial bombardment stops.
