I'll be dipped.

quote:
BANGKOK, Thailand -- Suffering from poor health, Cambodia's King Norodom Sihanouk has announced his abdication.

The announcement was made in a letter read to the National Assembly on Thursday by Prince Norodom Ranariddh, the king's son and chairman of the assembly.

The news "was shocking and very regretful," the Associated Press reported the prince as saying.

Sihanouk, 83, has been receiving medical treatment in Beijing for several months.

Well, lets think about Sihanouk. Sihanouk, Sihanouk.

I will say this about this guy, he is one of the few monarchs who seemed to actually give a shit about his people. His choices were not always the best in my view, but I think he really cared. He was never like most of the other dispossessed monarchs, living high in foreign countries, and he constantly intervened in the internal affairs trying to work with whatever govenment was in power to affect positive change.

That is my general feeling. Any one else have an opinion?

I like this guy. :-)

He wrote a letter congratulating same-sex couple in San Francisco.

Did he not also encourage initiatives to legalize SSM in Cambodia, too?
