And by "a way" I mean, the wrong way"Canada took its lumps at the UN climate conference Monday, tying with Australia in a “fossil of the day” award while being ranked near the bottom of an environmental group’s list for efforts to combat global warming. " "Bottom 10: 47. Australia 48. South Korea 49. Iran 50. Thailand 51. Canada 52. Kazakhstan 53. United States 54. China 55. Malaysia 56. Saudi Arabia " Holy f'ing embarassing.

For our country to finish 51st out of 56, I think that blame can be found almost everywhere: Government, Industry, general population. Like the majority of the Canadian population that continues to buy larger less efficient vehicles. Almost all of those buyers can't claim ignorance. The two things about the list that surprised me were 1) that we were actually ranked ahead of the US. I thought the actions in California and the north east would have gave the US an edge over us. 2) That India ranked in the top ten. They did not need to make cuts in the current round of kyoto (I think that goes for Brazil as well) yet both countries appear to trying to make a difference, while we have had governments with their heads in the sand [ 13 November 2006: Message edited by: Trevormkidd ]

Boom Boom when I googled Saudi Arabia Environmental Issues I found this.. quote: Saudi Arabia is keen to protect the environmental safety of the Persian Gulf and Red Sea, and the Saudi petroleum industry--led by Saudi Aramco, the state oil company--has contributed to environmental protection through safety measures, early warning systems against possible leakage, and advanced methods to control and contain any pollution. Saudi Aramco's Environmental Conservation Policy directs that the company not create undue risks to the environment, and that operations be carried out with concern for protection of the land, air, and water. Aramco has developed an array of operational requirements, engineering standards, and performance guidelines to implement this policy, including sanitary codes, environmental assessments, bioremediation, air quality and emission standards, noise-control regulations, landfill standards, water recycling procedures, hazardous material disposal rules, and oil spill contingency plans
It sounds wonderful, maybe Rona has observed their model. A friend mentioned to me the plastic bag is their national bird.

Seems the UK is also setting a target of 60% reduction in green house gases by 2050. Climate Change Bill
