How long does it take a union to make and establish an editorial policy?

Did CUPE not delete everything that had been written by many members, on many different subjects, over a period of several months?

Dear CUPE_ROFORMER,

If the censured parts were libelous or defamatory or in breach of any law, all CUPE has to do is delete them. If these are comments based on facts or fair opinions, it would be very disturbing indeed.

By the way, next time bring me a subject about wirdoes, like Muslims bringing their Sharia to my country, and I promise you at least 123 replies.

But criticism of my fellow "progressive" Whites at CUPE, I do not touch that stuff

Criticizing other people’s oppressive conduct and not that of the “progressive” whites at CUPE by itself is a way of feeling superior to "those people". Only “those people” are capable of violating rights of others, they are savages,...
By not talking about oppressive conduct of white "progressive" folks they feel “grand” about themselves.
The "Progressive" whites can violate people's rights, they can engage in discriminatory conducts all they want but they know they won't be subject of criticism because they are protected by the "white supremacist mentality" which they work hard to protect.

By closing a forum they can continue to act on the base of those who are “happy” with the system as it is set up and ignore those whose rights this system violates. Who are the happy “people” and who are the “unhappy” people in this system?

My point is that if a union closes their forum because they don't like what is posted then there is problem. Is it that they don't like criticizm? is it that they only liek to hear good things from those who are happy?

considering that this system is built for white men and they are the happiest with the system. The result would be that if no-one hears from those marginalized then they will remain there (at the margins of society) forever.
Lets demand that CUPE show courage to hear from all workers by opening a public forum.

Some unions have a very specific guide line posted on their web for dealing with racism and discrimiantion. Where is CUPE's guid line? Do they have one? where is it? are they hidign it and would only bring it out when they liek to be perceived as "progressive"?

Not sharing information with their members and not leting members to become aware of their rights is a way of taking away the rights of workers. It seems that they don't like to see their workers to be empowered. Why is that?

In general, unions have to hear from their workers whether it is a pat on the shoulder or it is criticism and after hearing from their members tehy should either make changes or explain why aren't they making changs, this is called democrasy and accountability from those in power.

Send an email to Paul Moist [email protected] and ask him to open a forum so the workers can have a voice. All workers, not just those who are "happy" with the system as it exists.

Take a look at CUPE Ontario Web, how can a member contact their elected members? can you find contact info for the elected members.
Look at national site, can you find contact info for all the elected members?

The unions are supposed to be working for workers not for the union bosses.

Running away from workers and hanging on to the power is not going to serve workers solidarity.
Beside, just because other unions don't have forums it doesn't mean that no one can criticize CUPE for closing its forum and fleaing from any situation that their members can make their voice heard.

Neither the membership of CUPE nor the CUPE National Convention decided to suspend the CUPE website comment feature.

CUPE has more than 500,000 members in Canada. The PPWC has approximately 7,000 members in British Columbia. The PPWC publication the Leaflet publishes letters to the editor. I have never seen any letters to the editor in the CUPE magazine Organize.
